Republican Rep. Jim Jordan is on the warpath Friday over the report that the FBI planted an informant in President Donald Trump's 2016 campaign, saying if true, "that is as wrong as it gets."
A guest on Fox News' "America's Newsroom" program, the Ohio lawmaker is backing an effort to get documentation from the Justice Department about whether the FBI under former President Barack Obama did in fact spy on Trump's campaign.
"If they did this, if there was a plant, if there was a spy, if there was an informant put in the other party's campaign during the election, that is as wrong as it gets," Jordan said on Fox News.
"When you couple that with what we know (FBI) did with the dossier … this is as wrong as it gets, which is why we want the information to see if it did actually occur," Jordan said.
"One administration shouldn't have spies on the other party's candidate for the highest office in the land, shouldn't have a disproven dossier paid for by the (Hillary) Clinton campaign, they shouldn't do that."
Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani on Friday said he's not sure that there was a spy embedded in Trump's campaign.
But finding out for sure is imperative.
"It looks like all of that happened," Jordan said.
