Jeb Bush will be announcing his candidacy for president on Monday, New York talk radio host John Catsimatidis said on his show,
"The Cats Roundtable" on AM 970 in New York, Sunday morning.
Neither the former Florida governor nor his team has said when he would make an official announcement, but Catsimatidis apparently didn't know he was revealing a secret.
"I thought it was common knowledge," he told the
New York Post in an interview after his show aired.
"I didn’t think I was spilling the beans," Catsimatidis said. "I talked to one person and asked if it was common knowledge, and they said, 'Yeah, it’s common knowledge.'"
Catsimatidis is a billionaire supermarket chain owner and former New York mayoral candidate. He said the announcement will take place in Miami.
He wouldn't tell the Post who told him about the Bush announcement.
"If people don’t know about it, maybe I shouldn’t be talking about it," he said.
The Bush campaign did not respond to the Post's request for comment.
