An associate of alleged sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein is now a "ghost who has disappeared without a trace," according to investigators who want to speak with him, the Washington Examiner reported Monday.

Jean-Luc Brunel, 72, was part of the billionaire financier's inner circle who ran an international modeling agency. Some have alleged Brunel used the agency to gain closer access to young women and "recruit" them into Epstein's sex trafficking circle.

Investigators have made inquiries throughout the United States, Europe, and Brazil, where Brunel was seen scouting for girls only three months before Epstein was arrested, according to the Daily Mirror.

"There is no address for him, all his Internet accounts, including social media, have been wiped out," a source told the Mirror. "He is uncontactable."

Epstein was found dead in his cell last month soon after hundreds of pages of documents, containing many high-profile names, were entered into a Manhattan court that was seeking to prosecute him on charges of rape and sex trafficking, according to the Examiner.

Brunel, however, was not named in those documents.

He has previously insisted he has had no involvement "directly or indirectly" in crimes involving Epstein, telling The Guardian in 2015, "I strongly deny having committed any illicit act or any wrongdoing in the course of my work as a scouter or model agencies manager."
