The United States has put up a $5 million bounty for information leading to the capture of the Islamic State kingpin in charge of recruiting foreigners to fight for the jihadist group.
The Daily Telegraph reports the state department has identified Abu-Muhammad al-Shimali, 36, of Saudi Arabia, as the leader of the Islamic State's (ISIS) "immigration and logistics committee."
Details of the reward and a photo of al-Shimali are posted on the
Rewards for Justice website.
A State Department official told the newspaper the reward is coincidental to last week's deadly terror attacks in Paris.
"We are looking for information on where he is. You never know where someone might show up," the official told The Telegraph.
"We do not encourage bounty hunting or anyone but government personnel to seek or apprehend these people. They are dangerous."
The reward money was made available through the State Department's Emergencies in Diplomatic and Consular Services fund.
