Huckabee: Trump 'Incredibly Generous' With Shutdown Plan

President Donald Trump has made an "incredibly generous compromise offer," to end the ongoing partial government, and as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has rejected it, that proves she is not interested in 800,000 government workers being on furlough, or in the fate of the nation's "Dreamers," former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee said Monday.

"He has laid out on the table what Democrats have said they wanted, to get 800,000 people back to work and let DACA recipients have a real clear vision for the next three years, which is a pretty long time to get something settled, and Nancy Pelosi says no," Huckabee told Fox News' Fox and Friends."

Huckabee said the Trump plan, with its offer for DACA protections, is "more than generous," enough so that many Republicans are not happy about it, but it's still the right thing for him to do.

"I think it's time for Nancy Pelosi to quit playing politics with the lives of these people and accept the fact that there is more than one branch of government," said Huckabee. "She doesn't run the whole thing, unlike what she thinks. She is not equal to the president; she is the speaker of one half of Congress."

Huckabee added that Trump can't be the person who blinks first, because he's already done more than that with his offer, and if Democrats don't overrule Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, "then it is squarely on their shoulders from this day forward."
