The House Intelligence Committee has invited executives from big tech to testify about Russia meddling the same day that those companies are scheduled for a Senate Intel hearing, The Hill reports.
The House committee has invited execs from Facebook, Google and Twitter to testify on Nov. 1, but Twitter and Facebook already have committed to appear before the Senate Intelligence Committee hearing on the same topic, The Hill reports.
Google has not yet committed to testify before the Senate.
This would appear to be another example of the two committees stumbling over each other rather than coordinating their pursuit of witnesses and information.
"A hallmark of congressional committees is that they are all little fiefdoms," Andrew Wright, former staff director of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee told USA Today. "Unless (House and Senate) leadership takes a heavy hand, the committees are not going to coordinate much."
