Hillary Clinton said she "gave some thought" to accepting one of myriad offers and moving to New Zealand after blowing the 2016 election, but said she needs to continue speaking out against the "strange goings on" in the U.S., the New Zealand Herald reports.
Clinton made the comments during a speech in Auckland on Monday before a crowd of 3,000 as part of her book tour.
"I must say I really did appreciate the offers. Gave them some thought," Clinton told the gathering. "But I'm going to stay put because we have work to do in my country as well.
"We're having a very important struggle in the United States right now. It's difficult to fully grasp because there are 20 stories and people are getting overwhelmed but the strange goings on we are living through," Clinton told the assembly.
Clinton will continue on to Australia next.
