Hillary Clinton, the 2016 Democratic nominee for president, is enjoying her time out of the spotlight as the 2020 election approaches, according to Page Six gossip columnist Cindy Adams.
Adams describes a private get-together she had with the former secretary of State, the two of them talking off-the-record, from memory, having not taken notes. Although Adams writes, “no quotes,” she does include a few from the former first lady.
Clinton “favors” New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, a Democrat, and “appreciates his stance on gun control,” according to Adams, but doesn’t have an idea of who will be New York City’s next mayor besides “somebody with a name and portfolio,” like former mayor Michael Bloomberg.
When speaking about the contenders for the Democratic presidential nomination, Clinton had “no good words,” about former primary opponent Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and suggested that anyone that beats him “in a district considered his, he’ll burn the house down,” though that was not a direct quote.
She praised Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., for her ability and said Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., is “smart as a whip.”
Adams quotes Clinton as saying, “I remember when politics used to be fun,” and, “Russia will always meddle in our political system.”
She also notes that Clinton was well-dressed, looking “marvelous,” and “slim.” Clinton said, “I’m dieting. I’m trying. I take walks. I’m working out. I have a beautiful backyard with surrounding trees, and flowers and greens, and I enjoy sitting outside reading.”
