National Rifle Association legislative executive director Chris Cox said Hillary Clinton should get "an award for hypocrisy" over her gun control statements, given her own round-the-clock armed security guards, The Washington Times reported Sunday.
"She gets an award for hypocrisy because she will never spend a moment, a breath, without armed security around her," Cox told "Fox News Sunday." "Her life is no more valuable than the single mom living in Chicago working the late shift who wants to carry a gun to defend herself."
As a former first lady, Clinton is afforded 24-hour security protection.
Cox said the NRA was open to regulating "bump stocks" in light of their use last week by Las Vegas shooter Stephen Paddock in his assault where at least 58 were killed and nearly 500 injured. Bump stocks are devices that convert semi-automatic weapons to nearly automatic ones.
Following the shooting, Clinton appeared on "The Tonight Show" and railed against Republicans and the NRA and vowed to continue talking about gun control.
"I can't believe that one whole political party in the greatest country on earth is totally sold to the gun lobby and will do whatever they are ordered to do, despite the loss of life," she said.
