The Brady Center to Prevent Gun violence is set to present Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton with the inaugural Governor Mario M. Cuomo Leadership award at the Bear Awards on Nov. 19,
The Washington Free Beacon reports.
The awards, named after Jim "Bear" Brady, President Reagan's secretary who was shot during an assassination attempt, will be held at Cipriani on Broadway in New York City with tickets to the event priced at $1,000 each.
According to one of the nation's leading gun control advocacy organizations, the award seeks to "honor the efforts of individuals who have distinguished themselves in their dedication to Sarah and Jim's vision of a nation without gun violence and who embody their remarkable spirit, strength and perseverance, to the extent that anyone else can."
An email announcing the event said, "On November 19th supporters from around the country will descend upon New York at our annual Brady Bear Awards to honor gun violence prevention champions.
"The event includes special presentations, honorees and performances you won't want to miss, including a presentation of the Inaugural Governor Mario M. Cuomo Leadership Award to the Honorable Hillary Clinton."
If elected president, Clinton has not only promised to enforce multiple gun control policies, but has called the Supreme Court "wrong" on the Second Amendment, and has also promised to institute new gun control through executive order.
