Hillary Rodham Clinton says child care needs to become a national priority and is urging Republicans in Congress to provide more federal money to help working families care for their children.
The former secretary of state says Wednesday that Republicans should "get on board or get out of the way." She says child care could be improved through new tax breaks to parents or grants to states.
The Democratic presidential candidate spoke on Chicago's South Side at a community event sponsored by the Service Employees International Union. She said people must be firm on the right to organize and bargain collectively.
Clinton was attending two private fundraisers, one at the home of media executive Fred Eychaner and another with billionaire entrepreneur J.B. Pritzker and his wife, M.K.
