One person died and three police officers were hospitalized on Saturday after a hazmat incident at a hotel in the Atlanta area, according to news reports.

Police responded to a call at the United Inn & Suites Hotel in Stone Mountain, DeKalb County police spokesperson Shiera Campbell told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

First responders evacuated the hotel, but they found a body in one of the rooms, she said.

Officers reported a strong chemical odor in the room where the body was found — and they began to feel sick, the newspaper reported.

The chemical was not yet identified and the incident remains under investigation, police said.
