The circumstances are aligned for a Dec. 7 "showdown" to fund the remain portions of government, namely President Donald Trump's $5 billion ask for the border wall, Bill O'Reilly told Newsmax TV.
Democrats are ostensibly backed into a corner, according to O'Reilly: Fund the wall or show you do not want to protect Americans.
"With immigration being dominant in the news cycle and most Americans supporting a tougher stance on the southern border in all the polls, this is a good time, this is a good time for President Trump to say, 'look, you either give me the money to protect Americans' – that's how he'll frame it – 'or I'm not going to sign the budget,'" O'Reilly told "The Wayne Allyn Root Show" on Wednesday night, which was replayed on Thursday's "The Brett Winterble Show."
"Do or die. And that way the Democrats are put in a very tough position because they'd have to answer 'well, we don't want to protect the nation.' You know, that's how the Republicans would frame it."

O'Reilly pointed to the fact around 70 percent of government appropriations already have been approved, strategically, before the midterms, therefore reducing some political risk with the leveraging of a government shutdown.
"So, I think there's a good chance that come Dec. 7 there will be a showdown," O'Reilly concluded.
