A Republican group headed by former Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol is calling on the Senate to remove President Donald Trump from the White House and confirm Vice President Mike Pence as his successor.

The group, Defending Democracy Together, Monday announced the creation of presidentpence.com, a website that encourages visitors to support Pence as a "bland, boring, completely typical, ordinary conservative Republican from Indiana," and says that if the Senate will do its duty, "they’ll make him the next president of the United States."

An advertisement was released by the group as well, adding that Pence "doesn't brag about sexually assaulting women."

"President Trump’s defenders have endlessly repeated the preposterous claim that impeaching and removing a president undoes an election, as if that weird inauguration and the midterm elections where Republicans got throttled never happened," Defending Democracy Together spokesman Tim Miller said in a press release.

Removing Trump would not overturn his 2016 election and it wouldn't put Hillary Clinton or Nancy Pelosi, Miller added.

"Instead, it will give us President Mike Pence," he said. "And while Pence isn’t the president of anyone’s dreams, he isn’t Donald Trump either. So there’s that."

Kristol, appearing on MSNBC's "Morning Joe," said Thursday that he gets "so tired" of people telling him that the election will be reversed if Trump is removed from office, his election will be reversed.

"Let's remind them that the president will be Mike Pence, a pretty conservative Republican," said Kristol. "If you like deregulation, Mike Pence will deregulate industry, just in the same way. He'll keep the Cabinet."

"I'm not a huge fan of Mike Pence, but I think it was worth reminding people of that, and maybe President Trump will see that and get a little worried that Pence is moving behind the scenes to encourage people to replace him."
