CNN: Gingrich's Wife to Be Named Ambassador to Vatican

The wife of former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, Callista Gingrich, is going to be announced as the next ambassador to the Vatican, potentially this week, according to CNN.

The announcement is pending approval of the Offie of Government Ethics, but is targeted to be made before President Donald Trump meets with Pope Francis on May 24 in Rome, according to the report.

Newt Gingrich, a vocal supporter of President Trump, had acknowledged to CNN his wife is "under consideration" for the ambassadorship and he would be "very excited for her."

Callista Gingrich is a devout Catholic, per CNN.
