Democrats have "botched an opportunity" with their pursuit of a shaky case for impeachment in lieu of working up legislation and their own case in the 2020 elections, according to conservative political analyst Gianno Caldwell on Newsmax TV.
"Democrats get an opportunity to govern and what have they done? Impeachment," Caldwell told Tuesday's "Newsmax Now." "It's all been about scandals. We haven't seen much legislation, so they botched an opportunity to truly serve the American people and work with the president on something as simple as USMCA. It's something they can pick up."
The USMCA is the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement, which resets trade deals with America's neighbors to the north and south as President Donald Trump works a large trade deal with one of the world's economic superpowers China.
"It's a win for America, not just for President Trump, but they haven't done it," Caldwell added to host John Bachman.
"Voters aren't going to forget this because Democrats are going to keep this going all the way up in 2020, which was intended to keep a cloud over this president's head into the 2020 election."
Caldwell, author of the recently released "Taken for Granted: How Conservatism Can Win Back the Americans That Liberalism Failed," added praise for putting White House senior adviser Jared Kushner on the task of the border wall, which is one of the loose ends the Trump administration must tie up before the 2020 elections.
"He's an individual who I personally view as somebody who can get the job done," Caldwell said. "I that's exceptionally important because this is about one of the only promises the president made in the 2016 campaign that has not been fulfilled yet, and this why he wants him to take on this role, so he can get it done and get it done quickly."
