New York liberal billionaire donor George Soros lamented the state of world events in an interview published Saturday: "Everything that could go wrong has gone wrong."

In a rare interview with The Washington Post, Soros, 87, said he did not expect Republican Donald Trump to win the 2016 presidential election.

"Apparently, I was living in my own bubble," he said, later adding that Trump "is willing to destroy the world."

Soros described Trump as a "narcissist" who "considers himself all-powerful" —  he opposed fellow liberal billionaire Tom Steyer's impeachment push.

He also told the Post that he would only back impeachment if the Democrats won a "landslide" victory in retaking Congress and forged a relationship with moderate Republicans.

Then, Soros said, he would favor impeaching the president "because he is endangering the United States and the world."

Looking ahead to 2020, Soros refused to name a favorite among potential Democratic presidential contenders — but he said he hoped New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand did not get the nod.

Former Sen. Al Franken, 67, who was in his second term, resigned in January after several women alleged that he touched them inappropriately.

Gillibrand, who declined to comment on Soros' comments, was a leading voice urging Franken to quit.
