President Donald Trump on Tuesday ripped the news media on Twitter for its coverage of the Group of Seven meeting in France, including accusing "radical left Democrats" of spreading rumors about bedbugs at his Trump National Doral Miami resort in Florida.

"The G-7 was a great success for the USA and all," Trump said in one tweet. "LameStream media coverage bore NO relationship to what actually happened in France.

"FAKE NEWS. It was GREAT!" the president said.

News reports widely ripped Trump's presence at the G-7 meeting in France — with Politico, for instance, attacking the president's "vague and vacillating statements on pressing issues including North Korea, Iran, the environment and trade."

Other news outlets also hit Trump for saying that Russia should be readmitted to the G-7 and on how the president apparently flipped his position on the tariff war with China.

But in another tweet, Trump declared: "No bedbugs at Doral.

"The Radical Left Democrats, upon hearing that the perfectly located (for the next G-7) Doral National MIAMI was under consideration for the next G-7, spread that false and nasty rumor," he continued. "Not nice!"

Trump suggested that next year's G-7 leaders meet at his Doral Miami resort, setting off a Twitterstorm fueled by a 2017 Miami Herald report about the settlement of a lawsuit from a former guest who contended in July 2016 that he had been bitten by bedbugs when he stayed there months earlier.

The guest, a New Jersey insurance executive, alleged that the villa in which he stayed had a "severe bed bug infestation."
