Boston Globe Ups Security Amid #FreePress Battle, Bomb Threat

The Boston Globe was forced to add security at its office Thursday following a bomb threat in response to its organization of a nationwide #FreePress campaign designed to push back on President Donald Trump.

Led by the Globe, roughly 350 newspapers published editorials Thursday that called on Americans to continue their support of the First Amendment right afforded to the media. Trump hit back at the Globe on Twitter, and a bomb threat was later called into the Globe's downtown Boston office, WHDH reported.

Titled "Journalists are not the enemy," the Globe editorial was in response to Trump's repeated bashing of the news media. He has stepped up his rhetoric in recent weeks, saying journalists "are the enemy of the people" and calling them "dangerous & sick."

WHDH reported the FBI was investigating the bomb threat. The Boston Police Department said it was likely not "super serious."
