God, and not politicians, is the "only hope" for the United States, Rev. Franklin Graham, who is leading the
Decision America tour to encourage Americans to consider God first and to pray and engage in politics prayerfully, said Wednesday.
"I have no hope in the Republican Party," Graham told Fox News' "Fox & Friends" program. "I have no hope in the Democratic Party. Or any political party. The only hope for this country is God, and we have taken God out of the political debate. We have taken him out of the public space. I want to put Him back in."
Graham said Decision America asks people to come to capitals in all 50 states to join his rallies.
"We spend half the time in prayer, just people holding hands with the person next to them, and praying to God," said Graham. "Confessing the sins of our nation, confessing their own sins."
Graham said he's not endorsing a candidate and he's
no longer a part of the GOP, as he's "just fed up" with politics.
"I don't think I can stand and ask for people for pray and be affiliated with one of the parties," he said. "I don't want people to think, 'He's doing this for the Republicans' or this group or that group, it's not. It's for God."
Christians are voting differently this time because they want honesty and strong leadership, he continued.
Graham said, though, that it is becoming difficult to define the word evangelical.
"I'm not sure it means what it used to mean," said Graham. "It used to mean a person who believed in the Scriptures, the Bible to be the word of God. But believed in telling others, evangelizing and telling others.
"But yet that word is I think misused a lot today and a lot of people call themselves that and I'm not sure what they are."
