Now that Fox News Channel
has announced which candidates made the top 10 for is prime time GOP debate on Thursday, it has revealed why it chose the polls it did,

Previously, Fox had said only that it would use an average of the five "most recent, methodologically sound polling of national Republican primary voters" as of 5 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time Tuesday.
The five chosen were from Fox News, CBS News, Bloomberg, Monmouth University and Quinnipiac University. All were conducted within the past two weeks, but Fox left out a recent NBC News/Wall Street Journal "because it did not meet our criterion that the poll read the names of each Republican candidate in the vote question," Byers reported.
According to Fox's rules, the polls had to use "live interviewers, random digit-dial sampling techniques" and include "both landlines and cellphones." Additionally, candidate names had to be read "in random order and without honorifics."
Despite the NBC/WSJ poll being skipped over, it still was "consistent with the resulting placement," Byers reported.
