There have already been 60 law enforcement officers shot and killed this year through Nov. 24, which is almost double the total of 36 by this date in 2015, according to the latest data from the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.

Total officer fatalities are up 18 percent in 2016 (130) from '15 (110) by Nov. 25, with 50 traffic-related deaths and 20 from other causes thus far this year.

Texas has been the deadliest state for officers, where 18 have been killed. That number includes one of the deadliest officer ambushes in U.S. history, where five officers were killed and six more were wounded by snipers from rooftops during a blacks vs. police protest in Dallas.

The data comes just five days after a San Antonio policer officer was shot and killed in his squad car while writing a traffic ticket.

California had 10 police fatalities, while Louisiana had nine, the third most among the states. Those nine included three shot and killed in an ambush in July.
