Eric Trump said that though nepotism might be the reason why the children of President Donald Trump get high-profile opportunities, "we're not still here because of nepotism" he said in an interview with Forbes.
"Nepotism is kind of a factor of life," Eric Trump told Forbes. "We might be here because of nepotism, but we're not still here because of nepotism. You know, if we didn't do a good job, if we weren't competent, believe me, we wouldn't be in this spot."
Eric Trump, along with his brother Donald Trump Jr., are now at the helm of the Trump Organization, the multi-billion empire established by now President Trump.
Also recently, Ivanka Trump assumed an unpaid position within the White House while her husband, Jared Kushner, was named senior adviser to his father-in-law.
What Trump does with his company is one thing, but nepotism laws do apply in the federal government, ones that some believe the president has been able to skirt with his daughter and son-in-law.
Regardless, you still have to perform, Eric Trump said.
"He's a guy, no matter where it is, he expects people to perform. And if they're not performing, he kind of encourages them to go on their way," Eric Trump told Forbes. "You know the one thing, Don, Ivanka and I never let him down really in any factor of life. And I think it's one of the reasons that we're as innately close as we are."
