President Donald Trump has issued a list of 205 “historic results” in the first two years of his administration in a document that also outlines a platform on which to run for reelection in 2020, the Washington Examiner reported on Monday.
“Together, we are building a safe, strong, and proud America,” said Trump in touting his new list, which highlights 14 major issue areas and tries to emphasize changes that have helped ordinary Americans during his time in office.
The list attempts to bolster the president’s claims that he had led a successful administration despite the recent stock market volatility and decline, the numerous shake-ups in his administration and the investigation by special counsel Robert Mueller.
Although some analysts have blamed Trump for the GOP losing control of the House in November’s midterm elections, GOP pollsters John and Jim McLaughlin have said that criticism is wrong, and that data shows that Republicans made a mistake in refusing to follow the president’s model, driving away some 12 million voters who had cast their ballot for Trump in 2016.
Some Republican supporters have cited this polling to urge critics in the GOP to stand down and allow Trump to dictate the messaging for the 2020 campaign.
John McLaughlin told the Examiner that Trump “understands branding and he understands messaging better than anyone.”
