President Donald Trump predicted Thursday the GOP tax bill will get Sen. Marco Rubio's much-needed vote despite his threat to vote against the bill if it doesn't include a larger expansion of a child tax credit.
"I think Sen. Rubio will be there" on the tax bill, Trump told reporters at a White House event, Axios reported.
He also praised the Florida Republican as "a great guy" who's been "very supportive" of the president's agenda, The Hill reported.
Axios posted a picture of the president at the event as he symbolically "cut the red tape" of government regulations, claiming his administration has ended 22 old regulations for every new one created.
But the comments came only minutes after Rubio's ominous threat, Axios reported — and if Rubio makes good on it, it'll endanger Trump's promise that passage would be "a great, big, beautiful Christmas present" to taxpayers.
