The Russia scandal has "paralyzed" the White House, a top Republican told CNN.
In the wake of Donald Trump Jr.'s email release that shows Russia supported his father's candidacy for president, the White House has been on the defensive all week.
"The White House is paralyzed," a member of the GOP with close ties to the West Wing told CNN, a network with whom President Donald Trump has been feuding.
Another official told CNN the Trump Jr. email story has resulted in "another week lost."
CNN cites other West Wing officials as saying the president has spent much of his time this week holed up in the Oval Office watching television and meeting with his advisers.
Trump has not made any public appearances this week, although he will hold a brief press conference Thursday in Paris, where he is traveling to attend Bastille Day festivities.
Trump said on Twitter earlier Wednesday he's been head down in work and rarely watches television.
