With concerns that Saudi Arabia may have ordered the gruesome murder of a dissident journalist who went missing two weeks ago, President Donald Trump admitted in a new interview that Saudi Arabia has "been a great ally."

Trump sat down with Fox Business Network Tuesday and discussed myriad topics, including the disappearance of Saudi writer and U.S. resident Jamal Khashoggi.

"Turkey and Saudi Arabia are looking at it very strongly. It depends whether or not the king or the crown prince knew about it, in my opinion," Trump said. "No. 1, what happened, but whether or not they knew about it. If they knew about it, that would be bad. If they didn't know about it, bad things can happen."

Trump then explained how Saudi Arabia has been a strong partner in the pushback against Iran.

"You look at what they're doing in Iran. Don't forget, Saudi Arabia is our partner, they're our ally against Iran, against missiles, and against what they're doing, trying to take over the Middle East," he said.

"They've been a great ally to me."

After referencing a U.S.-Saudi Arabia arms deal that's worth $110 billion, Trump did concede that it would not at all be appropriate if Khashoggi was killed on orders from the Saudi government.

"With all of that being said, you can't do what we've been reading about. We're gonna learn a lot about it," he said.
