Georgia District Attorney Fani Willis' alleged lover spent more than $6,000 on luxury vacation travel during a two-month period late in 2022, divorce documents show.
Special prosecutor Nathan Wade, whom Willis hired to assist in the Fulton County district attorney's criminal case against former President Donald Trump, booked flights for himself, Willis, and his mother to Miami, and on the same day paid more than $2,500 to Royal Caribbean Cruises, The New York Post reported.
At the time of those travel charges, Wade was working for Willis on the case against Trump and more than a dozen others accused of 2020 election interference in Georgia.
By the end of November 2022, Wade also charged $992 on Freedom of the Seas, a luxury liner that travels between Florida and the Caribbean.
The transactions were included in credit card statements from Wade's divorce file.
Jocelyn Wade, the prosecutor's estranged wife, filed an exhibit in the couple's divorce proceedings on Friday purportedly showing the spending history of a credit card used by Nathan Wade, CBS News reported.
Cobb County Superior Court Judge Henry Thompson ruled Monday that the divorce case involving the Wades would be unsealed and made public, ABC News reported.
"The evidence is clear that Ms. Willis was an intended travel partner for at least some of these trips as indicated by flights he [Nathan] purchased for her to accompany him," Joycelyn Wade's attorney, Andrea Hastings, wrote in court documents, the Post reported.
Willis, who has been accused of a clandestine relationship with Nathan Wade, is seeking to quash a subpoena she received from Joycelyn Wade, in order to avoid her deposition in the case. The judge on Monday put off a ruling on the subpoena.
Joycelyn Wade's attorneys want Nathan Wade and Willis to testify to get the full details of how much money he has been spent on their alleged trysts.
"Defendant [Joycelyn] seeks to depose Ms. Willis in order to determine details surrounding her romantic affair with Plaintiff [Nathan], as there appears to be no reasonable explanation for their travels apart from a romantic relationship," Hastings wrote in an affidavit, the Post reported.
Wade's credit card records also showed other charges.
There's $370 charged at the four-star Hyatt Regency Aruba Resort Spa and Casino, where rooms typically cost more than $600 per night; more than $3,000 to the Norwegian Cruise Line; and an additional $3,835 to a travel agency, Vacation Express.
Norwegian operates luxury cruise ships boasting "romantic suites with queen beds, private balconies."
Willis appointed Nathan Wade on Nov. 1, 2021, a day before the prosecutor filed for divorce, the Post reported.
Allegations of a romance between Nathan Wade and Willis surfaced when Trump co-defendant Mike Roman asked to have the criminal charges against him dismissed on the grounds of an "improper" and "clandestine" relationship between the district attorney and prosecutor.
