The Department of Justice may be investigating whether the FBI “listened” to President Donald Trump’s phone calls during the 2016 campaign, according to Trump.
“The fact is, they were spying on my campaign, using intelligence agencies to do it,” he said in an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity Wednesday evening. “We're trying to figure out whether they listened to my calls. That would be the ultimate.”
Trump added, “We'll see what happens. If that happens, we'll probably find out. If they spied on my campaign and they may have, it will be one of the great revelations in history of this country. It will be very interesting. I think we're gonna find out.”
Attorney General William Barr said a few months ago that he agreed with Trump that “spying did occur,” but said he didn’t know if “it was adequately predicated” or not.
“I think spying did occur,” Barr told a Senate committee in April. “But the question is whether it was adequately predicated and I'm not suggesting it wasn't adequately predicated, but I need to explore that.”
