GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump says the tax-cutting advocacy group Club for Growth is being hypocritical for threatening to run negative ads against him after asking for a $1 million donation earlier this summer.

The Hill  reported last week that some members of the group want to spend money on attack ads that would point to what it called less-than-conservative record.

The group ran ads in 2008 attacking Mike Huckabee's record as governor of Arkansas.

Trump called on Club for Growth to release the letter its president, David McIntosh sent on June 2 requesting the donation. When Club for Growth didn't bite, Trump tweeted out a copy of the letter himself.

But Club for Growth appears to agree with Trump in at least one area: When you are attacked, attack back – and hard. The group's Twitter page sent out a series of tweets about Trump with the hashtag #WorstKindOfPolitician.
