Former President Donald Trump joined two-time U.S. Open champion Bryson DeChambeau in a unique charity golf round that dropped Tuesday on YouTube.
Trump and DeChambeau teamed up for the golfer's "Break 50" series, in which they attempted "to shoot 49 or better in a single round with a two-person best ball format."
The former president sank a nearly 15-foot birdie putt on the 336-yard, par-4 18th hole to give the duo a score of 22-under par, a total of 50, at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey.
"You have to break 50, you just can't get to 50? Well, we'll do it again," Trump tells DeChambeau.
In best ball, each player plays his own ball throughout the round, and the lowest score on each hole is used as the team score.
"Break 50 with @realDonaldTrump dropping tomorrow on my YouTube channel! On this special episode, we will be donating $10,000 to the Wounded Warrior Project for every stroke we score under par. Stay tuned," DeChambeau posted Monday on X.
DeChambeau, the U.S. Open winner in 2020 and this year, said he reached out to Trump and President Joe Biden to ask if they would be interested in playing. The former president accepted.
"To be clear, this is about golf and giving back to our nation's veterans, not politics. A few weeks ago I reached out to both parties' presidential campaigns and @realDonaldTrump was down for the challenge," DeChambeau posted on X.
"It is an incredible honor to be able to enjoy a round of golf with any sitting or former president, and all have an open invitation to join me for a round of Break 50 anytime."
During their June 27 debate, Trump and Biden talked golf after Trump mentioned he "just won two club championships, not even senior — regular club championships."
Biden then challenged the Republican presidential nominee to golf, as long as Trump vowed to carry his clubs.
"Look, I'd be happy to have a driving contest with him," Biden said. "I got my handicap — which when I was vice president — down to a 6.”
After the debate, DeChambeau issued a challenge on X. "Let's settle this whole handicap debate, I'll host the golf match on my YouTube @realDonaldTrump @JoeBiden," the golfer wrote.
Biden, 81, pulled out of the presidential race on Sunday.
In a short video promoting the "Break 50" episode, Trump, 78, said: "This is going to be one of the greatest rounds of golf ever played."
DeChambeau wished Trump a "speedy recovery" after a July 13 assassination attempt in Pennsylvania.
"Violence deserves no place in this world. Praying for President Trump and his family," the golfer said on X. "Wishing for a speedy recovery."
