Social media users aren't happy with Dolly Parton after her dinner show "Dixie Stampede" was renamed because of the recent backlash against Confederate tributes.

After Parton had a news conference Sunday announcing the change and saying that “attitudes change,” some of her fans expressed criticism for her bowing to political correctness, The Wrap reported.

Parton renamed “Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede” to “Dolly Parton’s Stampede” in order to “help efforts to expand into new cities” and to “remove any confusion or concerns about our shows,” the news conference said, The Wrap reported.

The Dixie-eliminating change has already been made to Parton's website and social media pages, and will be in effect in other promotional materials at the end of January, AL.com reported.

Some did support the name change, but others made it clear they thought political correctness has run amok and were disappointed in Parton for bending to the pressure.
