David Plouffe, who was President Barack Obama's campaign manager, appeared on NBC's "Meet the Press" and expressed concern about Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's age and weight.
"He's 70. He's the heaviest president, the heaviest candidate we've had since William Taft. There's legitimate issues," Plouffe said.
The New York Times called William Howard Taft "the only massively obese man ever to be president of the United States" and said he weighed 350 pounds at his heaviest.
Trump talked about his health during an appearance with TV's Dr. Mehmet Oz that will air Sept. 15. Audience members at the taping told Politico that Trump said he weighed 236 pounds.
Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid also slammed Trump for his weight, according to The Washington Post.
"He's not slim and trim. He brags about eating fast food every day. Look at his health a little bit," the Nevada Democrat said.
He also cited the emphasis on Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton's health, and suggested focusing on Trump.
David Plouffe has criticized Trump while on "Meet the Press" before. In an August 28 appearance,
he said about Trump, "Basically, you have a psychopath running for president. He meets the clinical definition."
