Cynthia Nixon – the "Sex and the City" star who is running against New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and earlier this month said she could not release her tax returns because she filed for an extension – has so far declined repeated requests from the New York Daily News to release that filing.
Nixon's campaign has not given a reason for the delay in providing the extension filing, The News' Ken Lovett reported.
"As we have said, Cynthia and [her wife] Christine [Marinoni] filed an extension and their tax returns will be available very soon," Nixon consultant Rebecca Katz told the newspaper.
The extension filing would include her sources of income and how much she gave to charity.
The News says it has been a tradition for statewide candidates to release their tax returns – and Cuomo has released his every year since taking office in 2011.
Nixon says it was President Donald Trump's victory in 2016 that inspired her to run for governor against incumbent Cuomo.
