Sen. Cory Booker has raised more than $5 million in the first quarter of the year, his presidential campaign announced in an email to supporters on Sunday, The Hill has reported.
The New Jersey Democrat, who announced his bid for the White House on February 1, now has $6.1 million in cash on hand for his campaign.
The campaign announced that 82 percent of those contributing to the campaign were first-time donors to Booker and that the average online contribution was $34.
The amount raised by Booker’s campaign is well behind the leaders in the Democratic field in this category, with Sen. Bernie Sanders at $18.2 million and Sen. Kamala Harris at $12 million, according to CNN.
The figures also put him behind former Rep. Beto O'Rourke ($9.4 million) and South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg, who announced some $7 million in his campaign’s exploratory phase.
"I feel incredible," Booker told CNN during a campaign stop in New Hampshire. "We set goals for ourselves and we surpassed our own goals, we're seeing incredible energy and enthusiasm everywhere we go in this campaign."
