Cable giant Comcast has announced a new streaming TV service, aptly named Stream, that will be available to all customers by early 2016.

Stream will debut in Boston at the end of the summer, followed by Chicago and Seattle, according to the company's website.

It will include about a dozen channels, including broadcast networks NBC, CBS, ABC, PBS, Fox and The CW, and cable channels Telemundo, Univision, HBO and on-demand movies.

The cost will be $15 per month, and will allow streaming programs and a cloud DVR with 20 hours of storage on laptops, smartphones or tablets via Internet connection.

While live TV can be watched at home, rights restrictions don't allow viewing of live shows while outside one's home network, the Associated Press reports.

The service is available only to Comcast Xfinity broadband Internet customers.
