Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., on Wednesday denounced a swastika spray-painted over a campaign sign for her Senate GOP challenger, state Attorney General Josh Hawley.
McCaskill retweeted Hawley's campaign manager, Kyle Plotkin, who declared, "This is disgusting," posting a photo of the red campaign sign defaced with a yellow spray-painted swastika.
"I agree. Disgusting," McCaskill replied in her post.
Earlier this month, GOP Senate candidate John James in Michigan apologized — saying "we should have caught this error" — after a swastika appeared briefly in one of his campaign ads, according to the Detroit Free Press.
According to a RealClear Politics averaging of polls, Hawley and McCaskill are virtually tied, 46-45.8, in their Senate battle.
