Cinemark is seeking $700,000 in legal fees from several of the Aurora, Colorado, shooting victims who unsuccessfully sued the movie theater chain giant, The Denver Post reports.

Since a jury last month found that Cinemark was not liable for the 2012 shootings that murdered 12 and injured 70 in one of its theaters, the chain is taking advantage of Colorado law that allows the winner to pursue legal fees.

Lawyers for Cinemark did just that earlier this month, filing for "bill of costs" to the tune of $699,187.13 against survivors and parents of the dead, the Post reports.

The plaintiff victims sued Cinemark, claiming the lack of armed security and gaps in camera footage, among other lapses, enabled the attack, the Post reported.
