The president-elect of El Salvador mocked "Fox & Friends" on Monday for its chyron gaffe referring to "3 Mexican countries."
"The Presidents of 2 mexican countries #FoxandFriends," Nayib Bukele wrote on Twitter alongside a photo of himself and Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
"Fox & Friends Weekend" apologized after displaying the chyron that read: "Trump cuts U.S. aid to 3 Mexican countries." The graphic stayed on the screen for about 30 seconds, and co-host Ed Henry apologized later during the show.
"Now we want to clarify and correct something that happened earlier in the show," Henry said. "We had an inaccurate graphic on screen while talking about this very story. We just want to be clear, the funding is being cut off to the three Central American countries. We apologize for the error. It never should have happened."
The State Department last week announced it would no longer provide foreign assistance to El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras.
