The author of the infamous Trump dossier was in a private office building Monday to give a deposition related to the publication of the scandalous document.

Fox News reported former British spy Christopher Steele answered questions for four hours in an unnamed location in London stemming from a civil lawsuit filed by Russian Aleksej Gubarev against Buzzfeed, a website that first published the dossier, and Steele.

Gubarev's companies Webzilla and XBT Holdings were mentioned multiple times in the dossier that made unverified claims about President Donald Trump, who at the time was still a presidential candidate. BuzzFeed published the dossier weeks before Trump took office, and Gubarev claims his companies were defamed.

Steele's deposition was part of the lawsuit. His remarks were recorded on video and were sealed.

Val Gurvits is on Gubarev's legal team and told Fox News before the deposition, "We expect Mr. Steele to confirm that he did not lift a finger to verify the false allegations against our clients and that he has absolutely no reason to believe any of these allegations to be true."

After the session took place, Gurvits told Fox, "We are satisfied with the results of Mr. Steele's testimony."

American company Fusion GPS hired Steele and his private security firm Orbis Business Intelligence in 2016 to look into Trump's background. At some point, the Democratic National Committee and the Hillary Clinton campaign took over management of the background probe through the Perkins Coie law firm.
