Hollywood Actor The Rock Slams Christie for Political Film Parody

By    |   Sunday, 20 July 2014 08:22 AM EDT

Wrestler-action movie hero Dwayne ("The Rock") Johnson has asked New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's people to take down a video that makes political points by parodying his film "Pain & Gain," the New York Daily News reported.

Johnson says he's got nothing against Christie.

"I know Gov. Christie. We've met a couple of times," he said. "But in no way was I associated with what he had going on. He had his team of people around him who kind of put that together. I saw it. I was like well, I don't have anything to do with it, so now you've got to pull it down."

Story continues below.

The parody, a mock trailer for a summer blockbuster entitled "No Pain. No Gain," remains available. Johnson, who'd been featured in the clip has now been removed at his request, the News reported.

In the trailer, complete with music, sound effects, explosions, and car chases, Christie is seen warning of an impending budget crisis.

The actor appeared at the 2000 Republican National Convention but now describes himself as "more patriotic than I am political," according to the News.

"I have good friends who are politicians on both sides" citing Bill Clinton and Barack Obama as good "buddies."

Johnson left the door open to a possible political career down the line. "You never say never. I've learned never to say never," Johnson said.
