The board of directors of CBS is in talks with CEO Les Moonves to have him leave the company, CNBC reported Thursday, citing unnamed people close to the negotiations.

COO Joe Ianniello would replace him as interim CEO, according to the report.

Moonves would be due as much as $180 million in severance and a production deal under terms of his contract. But the sources says he's being offered a roughly $100 million package, almost all in stock.

Moonves is under investigation of charges of sexual harassment, and the board wants the right to take back part of the package if he is found to have committed inappropriate acts, according to the report.
