California Democrats legally “stole” the midterm elections in their state by using a new law, Breitbart News is reporting.

They did so by using a practice called “ballot harvesting,” According to the San Francisco Chronicle a new California law permits anyone, even a paid political worker, to collect and return mail-in ballots. This was the first time the law was put into use.

“It defies logic to me,” House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., told The Washington Post. “We had a lot of wins that night, and three weeks later we lost basically every contested California race. This election system they have, I can’t begin to understand what ballot harvesting is.”

Ryan called the system in California “bizarre.”

Since the mail-in votes were tabulated, Democrats flipped six seats.

“The way the absentee ballot program used to work and works now, it just seems pretty loosey goose,” Ryan said.

Alex Padilla, California secretary of state took issue with Ryan’s comments.

He tweeted: “@Speaker Ryan, in California we make sure every ballot is properly counted and accounted for. That's not “bizarre,” that's DEMOCRACY.

Breitbart noted that Democrats have pointed out there is no reason Republicans can’t take advantage of the law, as well.
