Clauvino da Silva, the Brazilian convicted drug dealer who attempted to escape prison by disguising himself as his teenage daughter, has been found dead in his cell, BBC News reports.
Silva, 42, had attempted to walk out of the prison Saturday while wearing a wig, glasses, and a silicone mask. He had been sentenced to serve 73 years and 10 months for drug trafficking. He was transferred to Bangu 1 prison in Rio de Janeiro and held in solitary confinement, where guards found him Tuesday, dead from an apparent suicide.
His escape attempt, using clothes and items provided by his daughter during a visit, made headlines after a video of guards removing the disguise piece-by-piece was shared online. His daughter, who remained in her father's cell while he made his escape attempt, was being investigated with eight others for allegedly playing a role in the attempt.
Silva previously escaped from prison by slipping into the sewer system of the jail he was being kept in, but was later caught.
