Billy Bush told "CBS This Morning" on Tuesday that he is not angry at President Donald Trump for being fired after a 2005 “Access Hollywood” tape showing himself and Trump engaging in a lewd conversation about women was made public just before the last presidential election in 2016.

Bush, who is back on television after a three-year hiatus as the new host of the entertainment show "Extra," said Trump was just “being him” in the exchange.

He said the tape's release was the tipping point for the #MeToo movement, which he calls a "good thing."

Bush added that he "was due for some kind of reckoning in my life," explaining that "I think I needed to grow up a bit. Even though I was, you know, in my 40s … some of the missing tools to be better at my job, I think I picked up."

"I remember what it feels like to be all the way down," Bush said. "And I won't ever forget that, and think that's a valuable asset."

After the release of the tape, he said he received a call from his cousin, former president George W. Bush, who advised him to take what they give ya and walk away. And work on you.”

Bush told CBS that he is very grateful for his return to television, which is “what I love to do.”
