Former Fox News executive Bill Shine is expected to be offered the job of White House communications director, which has been vacant since Hope Hicks left the job in March, two people familiar with the decision told The New York Times on Wednesday.
Shine was ousted as co-president at Fox in May 2017 for his handling of sexual harassment scandals at the network, and had been named in several lawsuits against the company.
The Times said Shine, 54, has met with President Trump in recent weeks about taking the job.
White House officials told The Times they expect criticism for appointing a onetime lieutenant of former Fox News chief Roger Ailes, who was also ousted amid charges of sexual harassment, but believe they can get past the issue.
Shine also once worked as the producer of Fox News personality Sean Hannity’s show. He is married to Darla Shine, a former TV producer. The couple have a son and daughter.
