Trips to Europe by New York Mayor Bill de Blasio have cost city taxpayers upward of $41,000, the
Washington Free Beacon reports.
The mayor's most recent trip to Rome for a climate change meeting cost $17,731.42, the website reported, citing public records obtained through a state Freedom of Information Law request. Two aides accompanied de Blasio on that trip, where the trio stayed in a luxury hotel next to the Vatican, though the mayor did not meet with the pope while there.
The documents obtained by the Free Beacon related to three trips this year, which included a trip to Paris after the Charlie Hebdo attacks, to Italy in the summer and to the Vatican.
Airfare for the Paris flights was $11,091.84. Three aides went to Paris with him.
De Blasio paid for his own flights during his Italy trip, but several aides went with him, costing taxpayers $12,800.
The total for all three trips to the City of New York was $41,623.26.
