Former Vice President Joe Biden says Moscow doesn’t want him to be the Democratic presidential nominee — and has put up “a lot of money” against him.
In an interview on CBS News’ “Face The Nation,” Biden — facing a crucial primary race in South Carolina on Saturday — says fake Facebook accounts that’ve now been taken down prove his point.
“The Russians don't want me to be the nominee,” he said. “They spent a lot of money on bots on Facebook and they've been taken down, saying Biden is a bad guy. They don't want Biden running."
He also lamented the Trump administration has known about Russian meddling in 2016 but hasn’t learned from the experience.
"Look, this administration is incapable of learning elections,” he said. “They like this. Come on. Let's be fair here. They've known this for a long time, for three years."
Biden also said the intelligence community should brief all the presidential candidates on “what they told Senator [Bernie] Sanders [I-Vt.]”on Russia's efforts to interfere in 2020.
"Why in God's name haven't we hardened the electoral process, provided hundreds of millions of dollars to states to be able to harden their voter rolls, make sure they can't be attacked?" he asked.
