African-American voters prefer former Vice President Joe Biden, with 36% of them saying in poll results released Friday that he should be the 2020 Democratic nominee.
A Hill-HarrisX poll found that Biden held a 24-point lead among registered voters over the next choice, Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., who had 12%.
No other candidate finished in double digits among the 1,270 voters surveyed Sept. 18-23.
However, 12% of the respondents said they were not sure who should be the candidate to take on President Donald Trump next year, while 4% preferred none of the above.
Here are the poll's top five finishers:
- Joe Biden: 36%.
- Bernie Sanders: 12%.
- California Sen. Kamala Harris: 8%.
- Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren: 8%.
- New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker: 5%.
The Hill-HarrisX survey has a margin of error 2.8%.
