Hillary Clinton may be bringing in more money than her top Democratic primary rival Bernie Sanders, but Sanders appears to be getting a larger number of donors,
National Journal reports.
According to Sanders' quarterly filing with the Federal Elections Commission, his campaign received $15.2 million in donations. Clinton pulled in a much larger $46.7 million.
But Sanders says he is running for regular Americans, and his FEC filing shows he had 284,000 individuals give him an average of $35.18 in the last quarter. The Clinton campaign did not give a specific number, but reported "more than 250,000" donors.
Sanders also has drawn some celebrity endorsements and donations. Ben & Jerry's ice cream chain founders Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield each donated $1,411.23, according to the Journal.
Actor Mark Ruffalo gave $825, and rapper Michael Render (Killer Mike) gave $30. Rapper Brandon McCartney (Lil B) has endorsed Sanders, but hasn't donated.
Oakland A's co-owner Guy Saperstein and his wife each gave the $2,700 maximum to Sanders.
